The late Christopher Lee was a local resident. A Hammer stalwart from the 1950s to the 70s, he claimed that playing Dracula did not give him enough to do.
During his lifetime, he kept on working and probably appeared in more films than any British actor of his era. The best was probably the cult horror movie: ‘The Wicker Man’.
The story concerns a policeman investigating a girl’s disappearance on a Scottish island inhabited by an openly pagan people.
Lee enjoys himself as the long-haired Lord Summerisle, taking his responsibilities all too seriously when the people are threatened by the failure of their crops. As the unfortunate Sergeant Howie discovers to his cost…
